HondaJet Wins Top Spot for 1st Time in Global Small-Jet Market

Tokyo, Aug. 23 (Jiji Press)--The HondaJet, manufactured by a Honda Motor Co. <7267> subsidiary, has captured the top spot for the first time in the global small-jet market, according to a recent announcement by the Japanese group. A total of 24 units of the HondaJet were shipped in the first half of 2017. Honda Aircraft Co., the U.S unit of Honda, has been enjoying strong demand mainly from North American and European customers since it started delivering the seven-seater business jet at the end of 2015. The HondaJet costs 4.9 million dollars per unit. Honda Aircraft President Michimasa Fujino said that the plane has received high marks for its performance, comfort and usability. According to Honda, the subsidiary has received orders for over 100 units in total, from North America, Europe, Latin America and Southeast Asia. In 2017, Honda Aircraft is projected to ship 50 to 55 units. It aims to increase annual production to 80 to 100 units in the future. END
