PLN Announces Tender For Jatigede Hydro Power Plant

Jakarta, Oct 9 (ANTARA) - State electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) has announced a tender for the construction of Jatigede hydro power plant in Sumedang district, West Java, with a capacity of 2x55 megawatts. In its tender announcement released on Monday, PLN invites companies interested in the tender to follow pre-qualification process. The pre-qualification process covers a number of jobs ranging from design, engineering, procurement, construction to commissioning. PLN has projected the first unit of the hydro power plant to be completed in 46 months and the second unit in 48 months. PLN will invite interested companies to submit their bids for the project as early as in December 2012. The Jatigede hydro power plant is not incorporated into the second phase of the construction of power plants with a combined capacity of 10,000 megawatts. PLN plans to build hydro power plants with a combined capacity of 7,680 megawatts at a total cost of US$7.7 billion between 2012 and 2025. The projects are part of 96 hydro power plants with a combined capacity of 12,800 megawatts to be built by PLN in cooperation with private companies. The 96 hydro power plants are incorporated into the 2012-2025 General Plan for Power Supplies signed by Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Jero Wacik on December 30, 2011.
