Proposal to set up Thai-Italian Business Council

BANGKOK, Oct 15 (TNA) -- In an attempt to further promote trade and investment between Italy and Thailand, Italian ambassador to Thailand Francesco Saverio Nisio has proposed to Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-ocha to establish a Thai-Italian Business Council. The proposal was made on Wednesday during a courtesy call made by the ambassador to Thai prime minister at the Government House in which the latter congratulated Italy for its success in hosting the Expo Milano 2015. Gen Prayut reportedly told Mr Nisio that Thailand appreciated Italy for bestowing importance on Thailand’s food security and energy and invited Italy to use the kingdom as a gateway to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. The ambassador also reiterated that Italy would cooperate with Thailand in every field while wishing that Thailand’s economy would enhance further. Mr Nisio then proposed Gen Prayut that the two countries establish a Thai-Italian Business Council, designed for boosting cooperation between businessmen and eradicating obstacles to trade and investment.
