Rupiah Gains Against Dollar
Jakarta, Sept 14 (ANTARA) - The Indonesian currency rupiah traded at 9,568 to the US dollar gaining 30 points in inter-bank transactions on Friday morning.
The currency gained from 9,598 on positive sentiment with the Fed announcing quantitative easing (Q3), analysts said.
"The market players have reacted as expected selling their dollar immediately after the launch of the quantitative easing," Monex Investindo Futures`s market observer Ariston Tjendra said.
He said the US dollar is under pressure hitting the rock bottom in four months after the US central bank announced a new round of monetary stimulus in a bid to shore the US economy.
He said in line with the significant change in monetary policy , the Fed would buy US$40 billion worth of debt every month and other assets until the labor market shows signs of improvement.
"The quantitative easing policy would pile up more pressure on the US dollar as it is tantamount to printing more dollar," he said.
Samuel Sekuritas analyst Lana Soelistianingsih said with the Q3 relaxation measure, the Fed would buy mortgage-based bonds hoping it would boost growth and cut joblessness.
Lana said the US economic condition has not been as expected in the past six months .
The Q3 policy is expected to push up output by three percent and create new jobs to cut the unemployment rate to 6.7 percent - 7.3 percent in 2014 and to 6.8 percent in 2015.
