Salehi Stresses Importance Of Flourishing Afghan National Economy

Tehran, March 27, IRNA – Flourishing national economy in Afghanistan would be a reliable route to economic development, Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, Monday evening. Salehi made the remark while addressing the Fifth Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan (RECCA V) underway in Dushanbe since March 26. The Iranian foreign minister stressed the importance of preserving Afghanistan’s national sovereignty and independence. He said economic cooperation among regional states can help develop current situation in Afghanistan, adding that Tehran will spare no effort to reach that end. He reiterated that the Islamic Republic of Iran attaches great importance to establishment of security and stability in Afghanistan. Iran has fulfilled its commitments to restoration of peace and tranquility to Afghanistan, Salehi noted. Iran’s foreign minister then referred to the key role Tehran has played in reconstruction of Afghan cities during the past decade./end
