Top Actors From Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore In Do[S]A

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 26 (Bernama) -- A heady combination of spiritual elements such as ‘doa’ (prayer) and ‘dosa’ (sin) and mix them with a list popular actors from Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore, is what await television drama fans in an eight-episode mini-series entitled DO[S]A beginning Feb 14. Boosting big names such as M. Nasir, Remy Ishak, Hisham Hamid, Shenty Feliziana, Rueben Elishama, Hannah Al Rashid and Roy Marten, the mini-series was based on the script co-written by Astro’s Premium Drama and Film Unit head Saniboey Mohd Ismail and Indonesian famous scriptwriter Salman Aristo, featuring Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta as the main locations. To be screened under Astro Nusantara Mega series belt, and directed by Indonesian Ifa Isfansyah, the action drama tells about conflicts between four siblings, namely Fuad, Farid, Fahad and Farah, who were raised by their father Latif in Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur. The siblings’ lives started to unravel after they were involved in conflicts when the brothers Fuad, Farid and Fahad needed to save Farah, who was kidnapped in Jakarta after family disputes and they were forced to face various allegations filled with elements of suspense and revenge. “In every episode, an hour duration each, DO[S]A featured different themes including betrayal, greed, desire, slander and hypocrisy to suit the slogan “the end doesn’t justify the means,” said scriptwriter Salman in a press conference here Thursday night. Action choreographer Cecep Arif Rahman said that the drama featured a combination of traditional and modern martial arts by highlighting the ‘silat’ as martial arts that has been practiced widely for generations both in Indonesia and Malaysia as well as Japanese Okinawan's martial art. Meanwhile, Astro Malay Business Division vice-president Khairul Anwar Salleh said DO[S]A, was convinced that the drama – a collaboration of Malaysia and Indonesia's via Astro, Arie Zaharie Production and Indonesian Capitol Entertainment Production - would be well received. “I am convinced that by using special effects and cinematographic aspects in DO[S]A by cinematographer Yadi Sugandi whose previous works include 'Ada Apa Dengan Cinta 2' and 'Laskar Pelangi', the drama will be able to win the hearts of the audience," he said. DO[S]A will be aired simultaneously through the Astro digital platforms 'On Demand' and Astro Go as well as via Astro First and NJOI at RM19.10 on Feb 14. He added DO[S]A was also expected to penetrate the Indonesian market through the Astro’s online platform in Indonesia, Tribe Indonesia, and the Astro Citra channel in the near future, he said. --BERNAMA
