Authorities in Thailand's far South told to take precautions

PATTANI, February 11 (TNA) - Thai Army Chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha visited the country's troubled far South on Friday, when he told local authorities and security forces to take precautions. General Prayuth, whose trip to the Thai deep South followed a severe bombing in Pattani Province on Thursday with one death and over 12 injuries, insisted that state security personnel in the Thai deep South were to step up their measures against violent incidents. General Prayuth acknowledged that the Royal Thai Army was examining developments in the country's southernmost region, as Thursday's bombing in Pattani took place in a downtown area, urging all parties in the insurgency-plagued far South to be vigilant and to jointly take care of the situation.
