BOT governor encourages people to follow late Thai King's principles
BANGKOK, October 21 (TNA) - Bank of Thailand (BOT) Governor Veerathai Santiprabhob calls on the general public to follow late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's principles on sustainable development.
Veerathai made the call while delivering a special speech on sustainable development in Bangkok on Friday, saying although Thailand still faces problems and challenges in various aspects, including those on income distribution and equal opportunities in the society, Thai people are lucky to have been advised on knowledge and principles on sustainable development from late and revered His Majesty the King's actual experiments and practices for the past 70 years.
The BOT chief noted that late His Majesty the King's principles were focused on three main dimensions, including raising potential and productivity, creating stability and promoting comprehensive development in the country with public participation.
The BOT governor also acknowledged that Thailand's financial and capital markets remain fundamentally strong as they have quickly revived amid a grief nationwide over the past week, following the passing of late His Majesty the King on October 13.
According to the BOT chief, only some economic activities have slightly slowed down so far and BOT has closely monitored the updated situation. (TNA)
