Children found suffering from hand, foot and mouth disease

BANGKOK, Feb 19 (TNA) - A total 6,790 children have been found suffering from hand, foot and mouth disease throughout Thailand between January 1 - February 14. Citing the figures, released by the Disease Control Department, Dr. Sophon Mekthon, Permanent-Secretary for Public Health said he had ordered provincial public health officials to conduct the disease surveillance after the large number of children cases were mostly reported in childcare centres and kindergartens. He asked for cooperation from teachers and staff to urge children to often wash their hands and to ensure frequent cleaning of toys and equipment, shared among children. If many children in a class fell sick of the disease, the class should be temporarily suspended. (TNA)
