Dead Body Found Floating In Sampit Swamp Area

Sampit, Central Kalimantan, July 16 (Antara) - The people of Sampit in the regency of Kotawaringin Timur of Central Kalimantan were shocked by a morning report of a dead body found floating in the town`s swamp area on Tuesday The body belonged to a man of around 50 years in age believed to have been thrown there after being murdered. Police, however, refused to speculate of the cause of the death and motive of possible murder. Kotawaringin Timur police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Himawan Bayu Aji said the body wearing only a short pant has swelled and issued an unpleasant smell. The body was first found by a local people planning to fish in that swampy area . Local people identified the dead body as that of Gunawan Siswanto (50), a businessman, who had been known to have missed for several days. Police had brought a number of men, believed to be a relatives of Gunawan to identify the body but they were soon taken away from the location by police. "We will give the result of identification after we receive medical report," Himawan said.
