Freezing weather paralyses daily life in Turkey's east

ERZURUM (A.A) - Freezing weather is paralysing the daily life in Turkey's eastern Anatolia region. According Meteorology Directorate, the lowest temperature was seen in Erzurum city with -35 degrees Celsius on Thursday night. Meanwhile, roads to 727 villages in the eastern Turkey were closed to traffic due to heavy snowfall and blizzard. Disaster and health teams reached 20 patients in those villages, and carried them to hospitals. Officials from General Directorate of Highways said that Hinis-Varto Halilcavus and Karayazi-Goksu roads, which had been closed due to blizzard, were recently opened to traffic. Meteorology stated that the temperature was -28 in Agri, -27 in Ardahan and Kars, -19 in Bayburt, -13 in Erzincan and -11 in Igdir cities last night.
