Holy Ramadan To Start On July 10 In Iran

Tehran, July 7, IRNA – The holly fasting month of Ramadan is to begin in Iran on Wednesday, an official at the moon-sighting committee of the Supreme Leaderˈs Office said Sunday. Addressing a press conference, head of the committee Ali-Reza Movahednejad announced that 150 moon-sighting groups were instructed to sight the Ramadan crescent nationwide. Movahednejad added that the holy month will last for 30 days this year. The advent of Ramadan may vary from country to country depending on the situation of the moon. Since the new moon is not in the same state at the same time globally, the beginning and ending dates of Ramadan depend on what lunar sightings are received in each location. As a result, Ramadan dates vary in different countries, but usually only by a day. This is due to the cycle of the moon./end
