Integrated public security measures launched in Hua Hin
PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN, THAILAND, August 31 (TNA) - Agencies concerned have integrated their security measures for both locals and international visitors in Hua Hin resort area of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province in the Upper Thai South, including the installation of more than
700 high definition (HD) close-circuit televisions (CCTVs) across the seaside district.
Prachuap Khiri Khan Provincial Police Chief Police Major General Krisana Jamsawang told journalists of the update on Wednesday, noting that the intensified security measures also include heightened intelligence and patrol surveillance missions, as well as more checkpoints set up on all main roads leading to Hua Hin.
"All areas in Hua Hin, including tourist sites, business areas and communities are covered by the intgrated security measures", stressed the provincial police chief.
For CCTVs, the provincial police chief said, the Muang Hua Hin Municipality plans to spend a budget of more than 55 million baht on
installing more 680 HD CCTVs, in addition to the existing 60 CCTVs.
Besides, the Thai Ministry of Tourism and Sports has approved another budget of over 30 million baht to support local tourist police to install another 94 CCTVs in the heart of Hua Hin, bringing the total of the newly-intalled CCTVs to over 700 with their installations set to begin later this month.
The provincial police chief also urged local entrepreneurs and households to install CCTVs in their areas.
According to the provincial police chief, if any suspicious item was found from now on, an explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) team and supportive officers would be immediately dispatched to the scene from the Naresuan Military Camp to inspect the object and handle the situation.
The integrated move follows an unprecedented bombing attack in Hua Hin earlier this month.
Meanwhile, Prachuap Khiri Khan Governor Thawee Narissirikul presided over an event to present financial compensation to family members of two killed victims and 17 others injured in the bombing attack on August 11-12, amounting to 2.2 million baht totally funded by the Ministries of Interior, Justice, Social Development and Human Security and the Prime Minister’s Office.
The families of the two fatalities also received another 500,000 baht each from the Disaster Relief Fund of the Prime Minister’s Office. (TNA)
