Int'l diplomats witness quality Thai farming

EASTERN THAILAND, June 17 (TNA) - Thai Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister General Chatchai Sarikulya leads diplomats of about 30 countries to Chon Buri and Rayong Provinces in the Thai East on June 16-17 to witness the standards and safety of Thai food and farm products to promote them internationally. General Chatchai said while welcoming the international diplomats that the trip is aimed at providing proper information and understanding about the quality, standards and safety of production processes of Thai agricultural products, including vegetables, fruits, fishery and livestock products. During the trip, the participants were also informed of the Thai Agriculture and Cooperatives Ministry’s serious work to ensure the good quality, standards and safety for local and international consumers. Besides, the ministry is promoting quality and organic products, cost reduction, value addition, sufficiency economy and the networking of international farmers. The international diplomats consist of 14 ambassadors, charge d’affaires and 18 representatives of embassies from 27 countries, including big importers like the United States, Indonesia and Vietnam, as well as emerging markets namely Russia, Brazil and those in Africa, South America and South Asia.
