Iran's EC member: Trump's offer to be discussed at SNSC

Tehran, July 31, IRNA – Hojjatoleslam Ali-Akbar Nateq Nouri said on Tuesday that US President Donald Trump's offer for talks with Iran without preconditions needs to be examined carefully in Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Speaking in an exclusive interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Nateq Nouri said Trump's offer cannot immediately be dismissed. 'This is the character of Mr. Trump,' the official said, adding, 'He firstly shoots heavy shells. If they fear, he will continue. But if he sees that it is not like this, he will quickly change his mind and finds another scenario.' He said that the offer should not be rejected immediately. However he noted that Iran needs to be careful about the offer because Trump may be testing Iran and the US president may take advantage of Iranians getting overexcited by the offer. 'We should not readily reject the offer so that they say Iran is seeking violence and war. However, we should not get overexcited on the other side. The case has to be examined by the related officials and then the necessary decision should be taken.'
