Jakarta Intensifies Promotion Activities Of Asian Games 2018

JAKARTA, Dec 15 (Antara)- The Jakarta provincial administration has been intensifying promotion activities of the 18th Asian Games to be co-hosted by the Indonesian capital city and Palembang, the South Sumatra provincial capital, from August 18 to September 2 next year. "We intensify promotion of the Asian Games 2018, in cooperation with the Indonesian Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC)," Ratiyono, head of the Jakarta youth affairs and sports office, said here, Thursday. INASGOC has allocated funds amounting Rp70 billion to produce accessories depicting the Asian Games' logo, mascot, banners, posters, and other accessories for the promotion. Various accessorizes of the 18th Asian Games are distributed across Jakarta. "We will distribute more accessories of the Asian Games in certain areas, such as in the Hotel Indonesian Circle (HI), Jakarta Old City, and in Kemayoran," he said. The accessories are provided by INASGOC, the venues and permits are prepared by the Jakarta administration. "Accessories must be made available to highlight the implementation of the Asian Games 2018. The Jakarta provincial government prepares the locations and licensing," Ratiyono said. "Currently, the promotion of the Asian Games is being intensified on Asia Africa street in Senayan area (southern Jakarta). But, I want the promotion activities be carried out up to sub-district and neighborhood areas, and in schools," Ratiyono remarked. Earlier, Deputy Governor of Jakarta, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, had instructed his subordinates to promote the implementation of the 18th Asian Games up to the neighborhood areas in the capital city. The promotion is aimed at making sure that every inhabitant of Jakarta is aware of the Games. "Therefore, we have ordered the provincial administration's apparatus, including those at the neighborhood level, to promote and echo the Asian Games," Uno stated here on Wednesday. He noted that the Asian Games 2018 is the most important agenda of Jakarta next year, and therefore, the promotion is being intensified, among other things, by putting up more banners on the regional sports event in the public areas. Some 9,500 athletes; 2,500 personnel of the Asian Olympic Council; and 5,500 technical delegates from 45 countries will participate, or be involved, in the event. At least 3,500 media representatives are expected to cover the event.
