More EDC machines for welfare card holders

BANGKOK, Oct 22 (TNA) - The Comptroller General’s Department has cooperated with the Commerce Ministry and commercial banks in installing more Electronic Data Capture (EDC) machines at Blue Flag shops to facilitate registered low-income earners, holding government-welfare cards. Director-general of Comptroller General’s Department said her department had sent a list, containing more than 18,000 Blue Flag shops nationwide to the state-owned Krung Thai Bank at the beginning of this month. Krung Thai Bank has already installed more than 6,000 EDC machines throughout the country and plans to install another 3,500 machines within the end of this month. Responsible government agencies have planned to install altogether 18,000 EDC machines at Blue Flag shops within November. (TNA)
