ONCB destroys 21 tonnes of drug precursors
SAMUT PRAKARN, April 29 (TNA) - The Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) had destroyed a total of 21 tonnes of drug precursors at the Bang Pu Industrial Estate in Samut Prakarn after the police and customs officials in Chiang Rai were able to seize the illicit materials in a joint operation by under the Safe Mekong Cooperation Project with neighboring countries.
Customs offices and the police found suspicious packages, bound for Myanmar. After making contacts with the Myanmar narcotics prevention division, they had found that the company listed in the address does not exist, prompting them to confiscate the parcels.
The operation is considered as one of the most important move to cut short drug productions.
If the drug precursors were to be delivered as intended, they could be used to produce up to 250 million meth tablets.(TNA)
