Persian Culture Center Opens In Hamdard University, New Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 4, IRNA – To develop cultural scholarly ties between India and Iran, Persian Language and Culture Section opened Friday at Faculty of Islamic Studies and Social Science in Hamdard University in New Delhi. In this regard, a, MoU was signed by Prof Firdous Vani, Registrar Hamdard University and Dr. Karim Najafi Cultural Counsellor, Iran Culture House in New Delhi, to establish a cooperative agreement between the parties in selected areas of graduate studies; research collaboration; faculty staff and student exchanges and other administrative initiatives. Syed Mehdi Nabizadeh, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in New Delhi and Ghulam Nabi Qazi, Vice Chancellor Hamdard University, witnessed the signing ceremony. Addressing the ceremony Nabizadeh said: “Through this MoU, we are hoping to achieve a platform for common educational endeavor regarding various social issues”. He hoped that this valuable effort becomes the basis and foundation of many more educational activities and collaborations in the future. Meanwhile, Qazi, highlighting the close relations with the two great nations said: India and Iran share common culture and history. This centre will help in strengthening the ties. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Karim Najafi said: “Since Iran and India share significant cultural, linguistic and ethnic characteristics, the “Department of Persian and Culture” in an Indian university will help in collaboration and people-to-people links”.
