Russia, Turkey to continue cooperation to ensure stability in Idlib - Defense Ministry

ANKARA, February 11. /TASS/. Russia and Turkey have agreed to continue military cooperation to ensure peace and stability in Syria’s Idlib, the Turkish Defense Ministry said in a statement on Monday following talks between Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and his Turkish counterpart Hulusi Akar. "During the talks between ministers Akar and Shoigu, [the parties] discussed the developments in Syria as part of the agreements reached in Sochi and Astana. They exchanged views on what measures should be taken to ensure security in the Idlib de-escalation zone. The parties agreed to continue cooperation between the military and defense agencies to ensure peace and stability in Idlib despite all kinds of provocations," the ministry said. According to the Turkish Defense Ministry, Ankara and Moscow see eye to eye on the need to eliminate threats to Turkey’s security "emanating from Kurdistan Workers’ Party terrorists, the People’s Defense Forces and the Islamic State (terror group, outlawed in Russia - TASS) concentrated in Manbij and east of the Euphrates [River]" in Syria.
