Supermoon on Loy Krathong Day in Thailand
BANGKOK, November 14 (TNA) - The Loy Krathong Festival 2016 in Thailand is going to be a special one, as the country would see "Supermoon" in 68 years.
"Supermoon" is a phenomenon, in which the Moon orbits at the closest distance possible to the Earth.
While enjoying the Loy Krathong Festival this year, which falls on November 14, people in Thailand would also enjoy looking on the "Supermoon" on Monday evening, as the Moon would be 14 per cent bigger and 30 per cent brighter than usual, thanks to its nearest distance to the Earth.
People in Thailand could enjoy watching the "Supermoon" once in a lifetime with their naked eye, starting from 6pm on November 14 (Thailand's time).
Those missing this year's Supermoon would have to wait for another 18 years for the rare phenomenon to occur again, predicted to happen on November 25, 2034.
The Meteorological Department said if there is no dark clouds in the sky, people in Thailand can see the Supermoon very clearly. (TNA)
