Turkey, Thailand celebrate 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations

BANGKOK, July 5 (TNA) - Turkey and Thailand are jointly organizing an exhibition at the Parliament building in Bangkok during July 4-10, marking the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two allied countries. Thailand's National Legislative Assembly (NLA) President Pornpetch Wichitcholchai presided over a ceremony to inaugurate the Turkey-Thailand exhibition on Thursday, in which Turkish Ambassador in Bangkok Evren Dagdelen Akgün and members of the executive board of the Thai-Turkish parliamentarians' friendship group, took part. On the occasion, the Thai NLA president praised sound relations between Ankara and Bangkok in all dimensions over the past 60 years. Besides, negotiations on a bilateral free trade agreement (FTA) between the Turkish and the Thai governments have been on progress, as both countries are located on strategic areas connecting with other countries in the region, and both Ankara and Bangkok have jointly set a target to double the value of two-way trade over the next three years. The exhibition includes the background and developments of relations between Turkey and Thailand in all areas, namely trade, tourism and academic, covering a show of souvenir stamps marking their 60 year-relations, as well as cultural performances of both allied countries.
