Wreckage Of Survey Plane Found On Hillside
Samarinda, Aug 27 (ANTARA) - Burnt wreckage of the survey aircraft, PA31 Piper Navajo Chief Tain, missing in East Kalimantan since Friday had been found with four dead bodies on a hillside in the regency of Kutai Timur.
The wreckage and scorched bodies known to be those of pilot Capt Marshal Basir and passengers including the General Manager of Elliot Geophysics International, Peter John Elliot, surveyor Jandri Hendrizal and a defense ministry official Captain Suyoto were found on the hillside of Mt Mayang on Sunday afternoon.
The bodies were evacuated to the hospital of AW Sjahranie in Samarinda, on Monday morning .
Police commissioner H.Tampubolon, who headed the evacuation said the process of evacuation took relatively long time because of the difficult terrain.
The National Committee for Transport Safety (KNKT) will soon investigate the wreckage of the plane, which is owned by PT Intan Angkasa.
"This morning members of KNKT are to arrive in Samarinda to investigate the accident," head of the Temindung airport of Samarinda, Rajoki Aritonang, said here on Monday.
The survey plane was chartered by Elliot Geophysics International to carry out survey for a coal mining company, which is based in Bontang, East Kalimantan.
The plane was declared missing on Friday afternoon after the the Temindung airport of Samarinda lost contact with its not long after taking off from the airport that morning
The US made aircraft was found brunt with the bodies of the four people on board on Sunday afternoon.
