68th session of UNGA opens

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The 68th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) officially kicked off Monday in the UN Headquarters, New York, USA. It has brought together the heads of state and government of 193 Member States has opened. The President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj is attending the 68th session, being accompanied by L.Bold, Minister of Foreign Affairs and other officials. On the first day of the High-level meeting, state and government heads focused on the theme “International and regional cooperation and partnership for disability inclusive development”. The UNGA session’s president Mr John William Ashe and the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon delivered opening remarks at the session. In his opening remarks Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon noted: “About 80 percent of more than one billion people with disabilities around the world are of working age. Over 80 percent of them live in developing countries. People with disabilities must enjoy full human rights, civic, political, economic, social and cultural rights like other people”. The heads of state and government from Mongolia, Spain, the Philippines and Tunisia delivered their remarks at the session’s opening. They emphasized the need to support employment of persons with disabilities, improve legal environment, support education at different levels, train and educate them for high-demand jobs, encourage employment, promote their full participation in social life and provide for social security.
