Caspian Sea Security Needs No Foreign Troops : Navy Commander

Tehran, Oct 29, IRNA – Navy Commander Rear-Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said on Tuesday that the Caspian Sea belongs to littoral states and that safeguarding its security does not need foreign troops.
Talking to reporters after a meeting with the visiting Kazakh counterpart Rear Admiral Zhandarbek Zhanzakov, Sayyari said the Caspian Sea littoral countries should prevent the foreigners from entering the region.
Asked about his meeting with Zhanzakov, Sayyari said that the two navy commanders reviewed ways to promote bilateral cooperation in various fields including construction of warships and exchange of navy cadets for academic studies.
The meeting also focused on the campaign against marine terrorism, drug trafficking and protection of environment, Sayyari said.
Responding to a question about Kazakhstan willingness to promote navy cooperation with Iran, he said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is keen on enhanced cooperation with Kazakhstan in all fields./end
