DEFENSE MINISTER VISITING QATAR

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A delegation headed by D.Bat-Erdene, the Defense Minister, began Monday an official visit to Qatar. He has been invited by the Minister of State for Defense Affairs, Mr Hamad bin Ali Al Attiyah. The Mongolian Minister will be received by His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, for exchanging views on the bilateral relations and cooperation. After this, the Defense Ministers of the two countries will hold official talks and will exchange views and information about a present situation of the defense cooperation, joint measures, international and regional matters. The diplomatic relations were established January 21 of 1998 between Mongolia and Qatar. The bilateral defense cooperation launched by signing a cooperation contract between the Armed Forces of the two countries in December of 2007. Accordingly, the two countries have been cooperating in preparing military and defense professionals, organizing peacekeeping joint exercises, and in combating terrorism.
