Egypt Hands Over Presidency Of NAM Foreign Ministerial Meeting To Iran

Tehran, Aug 28, IRNA – Egypt handed over the presidency of the 16th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Ministerial meeting to Iran. During the opening ceremony of the NAM ministerial meeting here Tuesday morning, the Egyptian Deputy Foreign Minister Ramzy Ezzedine whose country held the presidency of the organization handed over the capacity to the Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi. In his remarks, Ezzedine expressed sympathy with the survivors of the recent earthquakes in northwestern Iran. Outlining regional and international critical situations, he said the issue of Palestine was the most prominent of all and stressed that the Non-Aligned Movement has always highlighted the sufferings of the defenseless Palestinian nation since the beginning of its formation. The Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi will travel to Iran to hand over the presidency of the organization to Iran on Thursday. The two-day NAM ministerial meeting would begin in Tehran on Tuesday and Wednesday. The two-day XVI Tehran NAM Summit Meeting would begin at Tehran Summits Hall on Thursday August 30 with the inaugural address of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei./end
