Former US Attorney-General Deplores Drumbeats Of War In US, Israel

Geneva, March 14, IRNA – Former US Attorney General Ramsey Clark on Tuesday deplored the drumbeats of war that are being heard in the US and Israel against Iran, calling for easing tension to thwart the looming war. Speaking on the sidelines of the 19th meeting of the United Nations Human Rights Council at the workshop on 'The Rights to Use Scientific Achievements', he deplored that a great nation has been subject to war threats. 'When you speak with language of force and threaten a nation with war, you are violating that nation's fundamental right to peaceful life,' Clark said. Asked about terrorist operations to assassinate Iranian nuclear scientists, Clark said that assassination of every human being is unlawful whether the victim is scientist or an ordinary person. 'Killing a scientist is the most unwarranted move. No country has the right to assassinate its enemies to secure its security.' He said that no country has the right to commit crime and the international law required all the governments to avoid criminal actions against enemies. Clark, now a peace activist, said that Iran has made progress in science and technology and they regard Iranian progress as a threat, whereas, Iran's progress belongs to the entire humanity. Responding to a question on how to avoid war, he said that publicity works must be done to warn against human and material damages the two sides might suffer and not to allow a country to invade the other. The workshop on 'The Rights to Use Scientific Achievements' was co-sponsored by Iranian, French and Iraqi NGOs in Geneva./end
