INTERNATIONAL DONOR ORGANIZATIONS CONVENE IN ULAANBAATAR

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Donor organizations´ meeting ran on Thursday.
The Labor Ministry of Mongolia, in partnership with the United Organizations Permanent Representative Office organized a donor meeting among local and global organizations operating in Mongolia including UN Mongolia, SME Development Project of European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Japanese International Cooperation Agency, Mongolian Credit Guarantee Fund, SME Fund and others.
The gathered there openly discussed their projects on the matter, and consistency between the governmental and global project, programs, efficient spending of further investments and financing, new projects, action plans and other facing issues.
At the meeting, aimed at opinion sharing and discussion on further development chances of global projects and programs implemented in Mongolia, the officials also introduced the Government policies on SME development here.
Opening the event, Deputy Minister of Labor J.Batsukh gave some statistics about SME in Mongolia. According to the information he gave, as today, there are 90,540 business entities registered in the country, two third of which is small or medium enterprises. These SME employ about 740 thousand people or nearly 70 percent of all the employed and produce twenty percent of the total GDP. He also expressed a confidence that right policies and regulations in SME development will give a great contribution to the further development of Mongolia.
