Iran Calls For Constructive Dialog To Resolve Crises In Syria, Egypt, Iraq, Afghanistan

Tehran, Aug 12, IRNA – Lawmaker Alaeddin Boroujerdi said on Sunday that constructive national dialogue is the only means to resolve crises in Syria, Egypt, Iraq and Afghanistan.
He cautioned against foreign intervention and said that hostility in the Muslim states has been stirred by foreign meddling.
Alaeddin Boroujerdi who is the head of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the parliament, said in a meeting with new Australian ambassador to Tehran Paul Foley, that Iranian Parliament is ready to promote all-out ties with Australian government and parliament.
Expansion of foreign relations and constructive interaction with regional and world countries based on mutual respect and in line with mutual interests are high on the agenda of Iranian new government, Boroujerdi said.
He added that the spread of terrorism in Afghanistan, US decision to engage in talks with the Taliban and continuation of insecurity in Afghanistan and Pakistan are indications of the defeat of US policies in the region.
Underlining the necessity for international campaign against terrorism, he said that Iran is fully prepared to cooperate with the international community in this regard.
The ambassador, for his part, said that Australia supports Iranian policy to constructively interact with the world.
Foley expressed hope that formation of new Australian Parliament in the near future will promote parliamentary relations between the two countries.
He called on Iran to play a more active role in restoration of peace and security in the region./end
