Iran FM Confers With Saudi Counterpart

Jeddah, May 13, IRNA – Iranˈs Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi conferred with his Saudi counterpart Saud Al-Faisal here on Monday. Salehi is here to attend the meeting of the contact group of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) which is to discuss Mali crisis. He reviewed bilateral relations as well as the latest regional developments with the Saudi foreign minister. Jeddah hosts the OIC secretariat office. The Islamic country of Mali in Africa is facing turmoil due to the growing operations of outlaw groups in the north of the country who are steadily moving towards the capital. Since the beginning of the crisis there, Iran, as an active OIC member state, has stressed the territorial integrity of the country and its national sovereignty, calling for peaceful talks between the belligerent parties to stop the bloodshed there. As the head of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), Iran has already voiced readiness to employ its political capacity to settle the problem there..end
