Iran`s reformists to hold meeting with Iranian EC chairman about presidential election

TEHRAN,Nov.5(MNA) – The members of the Reformist Front will meet with Expediency Council Chairman Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani on Monday for talks about the presidential election, according to the spokesman for the front. In an interview with the Persian service of the Mehr News Agency published on Sunday, Majid Mohtashami said that the members of the Reformist Front will also meet with some reformist leaders to discuss their plans for the election which will be held on June 14, 2013. On the most recent meeting of the front, Mohtashami, who is also the Freedom Party secretary general, said that the members have agreed that the reformists should be present on the country’s political scene through issuing statements, announcing plans, and doing political activities. He also said that the front has decided to be actively involved in presidential election campaigns. In addition, he said the members have decided to endorse former president Mohammad Khatami as their presidential candidate or field only one candidate in the case that Khatami refuses to run for the post.
