Iran's Top Priority, Expansion Of Regional Ties: Mehmanparast

Tehran, Feb 22, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said Tuesday that promotion of cooperation with regional states is among Iran’s top priorities. During his Tuesday press conference, Mehmanparast told reporters that Iran welcomes establishment of democratic governments in the region. On the visit to Tehran of Omani foreign minister, he said the visit is to take place in line with bilateral cordial relations. On the issue of Camp Ashraf in Iraq, Mehmanparast said if some members of Mujahedeen-e Khalq Organization (MKO) ask to return to Iran, Tehran would welcome their requests. Iran asks residents of Camp Ashraf to leave Iraq, Mehmanparast reiterated adding that regional countries including Iran do not support terrorist actions. Mehmanparast also elaborated on Tehran’s cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and said Tehran will continue its cooperation with the agency at the highest level. As to the visit of the IAEA inspectors to Iran, he said the visit was not aimed at inspecting but holding negotiations.end
