MP: Growing Iran-Egypt Ties To Undermine Zionist Regime Power In Region

Tehran, Feb 7, IRNA – A parliamentarian said the increasing relations between Iran and Egypt will strengthen resistance front in the region thus undermining the power of the Zionist regime and the US. Abbasali Mansouri Arani, who is a member of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission told IRNA on Thursday that the visit of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a milestone in the history of relations between the two countries. He said Iran and Egypt are two strategic countries of the Islamic world and play influential roles in regional and international developments. The MP reiterated that President Ahmadinejad’s visit brought the two countries closer and increased interactions between them. The parliamentarian further believed more joint meetings between officials of the two countries are needed to enhance bilateral political ties. President Ahmadinejad arrived in Cairo on Tuesday at the official invitation of his Egyptian counterpart Mohamed Mursi to attend the two-day summit meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The 12th OIC Summit is focusing on the Islamic world’s most urgent issues like crises in Syria, Mali and Palestine./end
