Official Stresses Importance Of Iran-China Joint Stand On Syria

Tehran, Sept 10, IRNA – Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian here on Monday stressed the importance of joint stand to be taken by Iran and China on Syria. In a meeting with Zhang Zhijun, Chinese Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amir Abdollahian appreciated Beijing for its diplomatic support for Damascus. The Iranian official said Tehran strongly backs Syrian nation and any reforms based on resistance by President Bashar al-Assad. The Chinese official referred to Iran as an influential country in the region and stressed the importance of Tehran-Beijing discussions on various regional issues. Zhang Zhijun said certain countries are seeking long-term presence in the region. He further appreciated Tehran's efforts to settle the Syrian crisis through diplomacy. The two sides also held talks on the latest regional developments./end
