Pakistan Recovers 9 Bodies Of Soldiers, Civilians From Snow Slide

Islamabad, Dec 2, IRNA – Pakistan army Saturday recovered bodies of five more soldiers, including an officer and four civilians, buried under the snow in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, the military said. The soldiers and civilians were missing at Sharda sector along the Line of Control (LoC), which divides Pakistan and India in the disputed Kashmir region as the result of snow slide early Thursday. The army had recovered three soldiers on Friday and eight more soldiers and 10 civilians had been missing. Search for remaining missing persons is underway, an army statement said. Pakistan has deployed thousands of troops along the LoC, where guns are silent after a ceasefire. On April 7th, a massive avalanche hit a Pakistani army camp in the Siachen Glacier area, the world's highest battle-ground, where thousands of Pakistani and Indian soldiers perform duties in harsh cold across the LoC, which divides the two countries in the disputed Kashmir region./end
