Presence Of Top Damascus Official In NAM Meet, Sign Of Stability In Syria - MP

Damascus, Aug 25, IRNA – Senior Iranian parliamentarian Alaedin Boroujerdi said the presence of a ranking Damascus official in the Non-Aligned Movement Summit in Tehran is a sign of stability in Syria. Talking to reporters upon his arrival here on Saturday, Chairman of Majlis' National Security and Foreign Policy Commission hoped the presence of Syria in the upcoming meeting which offers it an opportunity to lobby with different parties would be a turning point in settlement of problems facing the Syrian nation. Referring to the recent visit to Iran of the Syrian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Jihad al-Laham, he said since Iran’s Speaker Ali Larijani was involved in the NAM summit in Tehran, he was leading the delegation to Syria. The MP said he will be meeting the Syrian president, speaker of the parliament and foreign minister during his two-day stay in the country./end
