President Ahmadinejad Felicitates Mexican President-elect’s Victory

Tehran, July 23, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in a message on Sunday to Mexico’s President-elect Enrique Pena Nieto congratulated his victory in that country’s presidential elections. In his message, President Ahmadinejad expressed hope that President Enrique Pena Nieto in his tenure as Mexico’s president the two countries will see further expansion of bilateral ties in areas of mutual of interest and in line with establishment of peace and security in international arena. The president also wished health and success for his Mexican counterpart. Pena Nieto won Mexico’s presidential election on July 1 with about 38 percent of the vote and a margin of around 6 percentage points over his nearest rival, returning his Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) to power after 12 years in opposition. He has promised to lift economic growth to about six percent a year, create jobs and draw the heat out of a drug war that has killed more than 55,000 people since late 2006./end
