Regional, Int’l Problems Will Not Be Resolved Without Iran: President

Tehran, Nov 10, IRNA – President Hassan Rouhani said Sunday that without Iranˈs presence at regional and international arenas, no problems would be solved properly. Addressing Majlis open session, the President said without Iranˈs presence, regional and international problems would not be fully solved or will be costly resolved. The President attended Majlis session today to defend his proposed minister for the Ministry of Sports and the Youth Affairs. Commenting on the newly-ended talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 in Geneva, he said Tehran would by no means accept any discrimination at the international arena. “Iran and Iranians should enjoy their legitimate rights,” said the President stressing, “The international community should believe in Tehran when it says it needs nuclear technology for peaceful objectives not for posing threats against others or for making nuclear bombs.” “When we use the word ‘nuclear’ in Iran we refer to its ‘peaceful use’ not to its military use which is common around the world,” President Rouhani noted. He stressed that Iran is pursuing its nuclear talks with the world big powers in a serious manner. Noting that the illegal anti-Iran sanctions were not the reason for Tehran’s presence in the talks, he said Tehran also attended nuclear talks during 2001-2003 while no sanctions were at work against the country. Even when the enemy was to start imposition of its illegitimate sanctions on Iran, the country did not interrupt the talks, he said, adding that this proved that Tehran has always believed in negotiations and diplomacy as the only solution to international problems. The President stressed that the success of Iran-G5+1 talks would benefit the international community too. “Success of the talks means peace and stability for the region and for the entire world.”/end
