Russian, Iranian, Syrian top diplomats to discuss efforts to launch negotiation process on Syria - Lavrov

MOSCOW, October 28. /TASS/. Russian, Syrian and Iranian Foreign Ministers Sergey Lavrov, Walid Muallem and Mohammad Javad Zarif will discuss efforts to launch the negotiation process on Syria during a trilateral meeting on Friday. Opening the bilateral talks with Zarif, Lavrov noted that the two ministers will pay special attention to the situation in and around Syria. "The latest developments have convinced us once again that it is necessary to fight against terrorism without any compromises, without succumbing to provocations," he said. The situation in Syria will also top the agenda of the trilateral meeting of Lavrov, Muallem and Zarif. "We will discuss in detail efforts to further launch the negotiation process at a trilateral meeting with Muallem," Russia’s top diplomat said, adding that he is planning to discuss progress in the implementation of the agreements reached by the two countries’ presidents at a bilateral meeting with Muallem. Lavrov noted that during a meeting with Zarif he intends to exchange views on preparations for the fifth Caspian summit, where the Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea is to be signed.
