Salehi : Iran Ready To Host Syrian Opposition Groups

Tehran, Aug 27, IRNA -- Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said on Sunday once again that Iran is ready to host Syrian opposition groups in Tehran. He made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Syrian National Reconciliation Minister Ali Haydar. Salehi underlined restoring stability in Syria through peaceful ways and held talks with the Syrian minister about regional and international issues especially Syrian issues and restoring peace and lasting stability in Syria. He reminded Haydar of Iran's principled policy to help solve problems in the neighboring and regional countries. Pointing to Kofi Anan's six-point peace plan, he called for a halt to violence and formation of a mechanism to meet people's demands, making a process of government-political groups talks, contribution and participation of all political groups and parties in their country's affairs and pushing for national dialog for peace and lasting stability in Syria. Haydar thanked Iran's stance and assistance for restoring peace and stability in his country and appreciated Iran's constructive role to invite Syrian opposition to provide a basis for national dialog. Underlying the dialogue and political participation of all groups in shaping national reconciliation as a mean of solving the crisis, he said any proposal for Syrian crisis must include an immediate end of all violence, denying any foreign interference and sending weapons and troops into Syria./end
