Situation in Syria, Iranian nuclear program to be in focus of Putin’s talks in Iran - Kremlin

MOSCOW, October 31. /TASS/. Situation in Syria and around Iran’s nuclear programs will be in focus of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s talks with the Iranian leaders, the Kremlin press service said on Tuesday ahead of the Russian leader’s visit to Teheran. "During talks with the Iranian leaders, it is planned to discuss a wide range of issues of the international agenda, including current regional problems, in particular the situation in Syria. It is also planned to discuss issues related to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) to settle the situation around the Iranian nuclear program," the Kremlin said. Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said earlier in the day that in Teheran the Russian president will meet with his Iranian counterpart, Hassan Rouhani, and Iran’s spiritual leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. "The Syrian issue will be on the agenda of the talks tomorrow, primarily in the Russian-Iranian format," he said, adding that other topics for discussion will include cooperation in the energy sector.
