State Duma Chairman attends roundtable meeting

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In frames of his official visit here, the Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Mr S.Ye.Naryshkin participated in a roundtable meeting themed ”History of Mongolia-Russia relations and literature issue” held Monday in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Mr Naryshkin noted that Russian and Mongolian scholars gathered here to share experiences, and that the two countries reached several important achievements in the scientific field thanks to the scholars’ efforts.
Our projects will have an importance in many spheres, the most important thing is that Russia played a big role in a development of independent Mongolia, he said. At the junction of 1913-1914, the first Prime Minister Sain Noyon Khan T.Namnansuren paid a visit to Russia to learn a structure of the Russian state,"and I pleased to say that the Mongolian Premier’s participation in a meeting of the State Duma of Imperial Russia was a real honorable event," he said. "After this visit, the bicameral parliament was formed in Mongolia. As the current Chairman of the State Duma, I underline that this happened 100 years ago".
Mentioning that Mongolians have a good knowledge of Russian language, Mr Naryshkin underlined that having joint cultural heritage has a great importance in the mutual understanding.
The roundtable meeting brought together scholars and researchers of the institutes at the Academy of Sciences, universities, institutes, Mongolia’s Union of Russian Language Teachers, the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of Siberia Branch, and institutes of Mongol, Tibetan and Tuva studies.
Following the meeting, a cooperation memorandum was signed by Mr Naryshkin, the Chairman of the State Duma and head of the Society of Russian History, and by Mr B.Enkhtuvshin, the president of the Academy of Sciences of Mongolia.
