Syria's Special Envoy Confers With Iran Officials

Tehran, Jan 6, IRNA - Visiting Syrian special envoy and Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Muqdad conferred on Saturday with Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian on latest developments in Syria as well as regional and international developments.
The Syrian envoy arrived in Iran after holding talks with Russian officials in Moscow on the country's developments.
In his meeting with Amir Abdollahian, the two sides reviewed latest developments in Syria which indicate an improvement in the country's situation.
The Syrian government is determined to fight terrorism but tries to resolve disputes with political parties through peaceful means, he said.
The Syrian government also sends humanitarian relief aid to the regions severely affected by conflicts, he said.
Various political solutions to Syrian crisis such as the efforts made by UN special envoy on Syria Lakhdar Brahimi and Iran's six-point plan on resolving the crisis were discussed by the two sides, Abdollahian said.
The two sides believed that the Syrian crisis should be resolved through political means, he said, adding that due attention should be paid to the efforts made by UN special envoy on Syria, he said.
The Syrian special envoy also conferred with Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi on issues of mutual interests as well as current developments in Syria./end
