Turkey's president welcomes Arab League's decision on Syria

ABU DHABI (A.A) - January 30, 2012 - Turkey's president welcomed on Monday Arab League's decision to bring up the Syria issue to the United Nations (UN) Security Council. President Abdullah Gul said Turkey was cooperating with the Arab League regarding developments in Syria. "We welcome Arab League's caring about its own region. In general, some other far away countries come and intervene in such affairs, however this time regional countries are dealing with their own region," Gul told reporters as he visited "Masdar City" in Abu Dhabi. Gul said Turkey was supporting Arab League's decision, and hoped that developments would serve interests and well-being of Syrian people. The Arab League has decided to present a plan to UN Security Council to resolve unrest in Syria.
