MAHA 2018 Highlights Importance Of Agrotechnology In Local Food Industry

SERDANG, Nov 22 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agro-tourism (MAHA) 2018 show that will start Thursday (Nov 22) until Dec 2 will highlight the importance of technology and agricultural innovation or agrotechnology in the local food industry. Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Salahuddin Ayub said through the sophistication of agrotechnology, more agricultural products could be produced more effectively and indirectly led the country’s food sovereignty. He said the concept was also aimed at instilling public confidence in the latest research and technology in building and improving the agricultural industry. “In addition, MAHA 2018 will introduce some of the latest innovations including the use of culinary robotics and from-the-lab-to-table concept,” he told reporters after a visit at the MAHA 2018, at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park (MAEPS) in Serdang here Wednesday. Salahuddin said among the targets to be achieved during MAHA 2018 was the presence of more than 3.5 million visitors and trade value and matching worth RM300 million. “To achieve the target, MAHA 2018 features 13 state pavilions, each with a unique design with their identity, culture, exhibitions and food that visitors can enjoy,” he said adding that several special segments including culinary, latest technology in agriculture and LolaBaba children festival would also be held. -- BERNAMA
