Iran, 1st Partner With UN In Fight Against Drugs: UN Director

Vienna, Feb 5, IRNA – Executive Director of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime Yuri Fedotov said Tehran is the first partner of the United Nations in fighting against drugs. Fedotov told Austrian newspaper “ Standard” that Iran, in discovering drugs, is among the first countries in the world. He added that 400 tons of Heroin is produced annually in Afghanistan of which 115 tons is smuggled through Iran, but Tehran is fighting severely against it. Fedotov continued that more than 3,000 Iranian officers have been killed in fight against drug smugglers, so far./end
