Iran's FM Arrives In Pakistan

Islamabad, Feb 16, IRNA -- Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali-Akbar Salehi arrived in Islamabad Wednesday to hold talks with Pakistani counterpart about the preparations for visit of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
President Ahmadinejad will visit Islamabad for the trilateral summit that includes Pakistan-Afghanistan.
Director General of Pakistani Foreign Ministry Abrar Hussain and Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan Ali-Reza Haghighian, and Iranian diplomats received Salehi upon his arrival.
Afghan Ambassador in Islamabad Omar Dauzai said that the first session of the summit will be held Thursday evening and the second one on Friday wherein a joint communiqué will be issued at the conclusion of the meeting.
Sources told IRNA that Salehi will meet Pakistani Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar on Thursday to discuss bilateral matters, focusing on agenda for trilateral summit.
The summit will discuss economic cooperation among the three countries and their role for peace and stability in the region.
Sources told IRNA that Afghan President Hamid Karzai will arrive in Islamabad on Thursday for the summit and bilateral talks with Pakistani leaders.
All major roads in Islamabad are decorated with Iran-Pakistan-Afghanistan flags along with the portraits of the presidents of the three countries. The security of the Pakistan capital has been put on a high alert to avoid any untoward situation./end
