President Ahmadinejad Calls For Expanding Ties With Turkmenistan

Tehran, Feb 18, IRNA – Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, in a telephone conversation with his Turkmen counterpart Gurbanguli Berdymukhamedov on Saturday, called for expansion of bilateral ties. Referring to the readiness of both countries to foster mutual relations, President Ahmadinejad expressed hope that Tehran-Ashgabat cooperation will witness a significant boost in all areas in the near future. He then congratulated Berdymukhamedov on his re-election as President of Turkmenistan as well as the 20th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations. The Turkmen president, for his part, described Iran as a reliable partner in regional and international affairs. Expansion of ties with Tehran is considered as Ashgabat's top priority, the Turkmen president noted./end
