Majlis Statement Condemns UAE Claims Over Iran Islands

Tehran, April 18, IRNA – Members of Iran’s Majlis (Parliament) in a statement here on Wednesday condemned the UAE Federal National Council’s claims over the Iranian islands. Some 225 parliamentarians out of 290 issued the statement condemning the unfounded claims made by the United Arab Emirates over the three southern Iranian islands. The statement said such unsubstantial claims over Iranian islands of Abu Musa, Greater and Lesser Tunbs will never tarnish Iran’s legitimacy of its islands. All claims over the issue are baseless and unfounded, the statement stressed. The members of Iran’s Majlis underlined holding any kind of talks relating to Iran's territorial integrity is unacceptable. However, Iran welcomes bilateral talks with the UAE on reviewing ways to promote bilateral cooperation and clear up mutual misunderstandings, the statement emphasized./end
